In her childhood, Dagmar Bunde took piano, violin and drum lessons and regularly played music in her family circle. At the age of 16, she started singing in amateur and semi-professional bands.

Since 1990 she has worked as a professional musician. Back then she also started her first band, the Dagmar Bunde Quartett, which today consists of the musicians Thomas Rückert (piano), Martin Gjakonovski (double bass) and Jonas Burgwinkel (drums).

During the 1990's Bunde passed her majors for a qualified singer, as well as a nationally certified musical school teacher and an independent music teacher – both with Norbert Gottschalk – at the Hochschule für Musik Köln. She completed her artistic examination with honours. Bunde took additional classes and workshops with Jay Clayton, Norma Winstone, Greetje Kauffeld, Janice Lakers, Klesie Kelly-Moog and Regina Hömberg, among others. Furthermore, she was a member of the Bundesjazzorchester under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer in the early nineties.

As a solo artist, she has worked with different radio orchestras as well as artists from varied music genres, among them Jiggs Whigham, Bill Motzing, Toni Lakatos, Wolfgang Sauer, Heinz Eckert and Kofi Missah. In addition, Bunde accompanied the performers Jennifer Rush and Precious Wilson as a backup singer.

Bunde has performed at the Jazz-Yatra-Festival in India, the Idstein JazzFestival, the Wiehler Jazztage as well as the Bundespresseball and Opernball.

Today Dagmar Bunde focuses exclusively on her own projects (the Dagmar Bunde Quartett, a duo with guitarist Rolf Marx and a trio with pianist Eckhard Radmacher and piccolo bassist Wilhelm Geschwind) and her occupation as a singing teacher at a private and university level. She lives in Odenthal near Cologne.
