Although Andres Böhmers musical ideas are not necessarily what one would classify as "easily comprehensible", you find yourself well as ease in his musical world. The music doesn't just rustle softly in your ear, but commands unexpected attention, with tendencies ranging to the absurd (just look at the song titles! ). The Quartet searched for a way in which the joy of experimentation, improvisation, and general playing connected with the melody sears itself into your memory. This they did; in such a way, that the grooves make you want to do more that just tap your foot. At the same time they present a sound that has a retro yet contemporary feeling. On this CD, Andres Böhmer and his congenial sidemen undertake a real musical adventure. They are disciplined by playing modern however not abstract. Oblique tones change themselves into beautiful passages, each element playing off the other, and in the end, both work themselves equally into the music. Is that jazz? Is that rock? Acid jazz rock? Psychedelic instrumental funk? Somewhere between these worlds moves and lives this… let's say musical "flight". When this CD is played in the background a few times, which after all, with instrumental music is the most common listening method, you'll slowly have the desire to play it louder in order to listen to it analytically and concentrated. The music holds its stand. You'll be surprised to find how the music will often reveal new surprises. How often? Try it for yourself!
